favorites and finds: dave's coffee syrup

I love coffee flavored things, I'm just not a coffee drinker (weird, I know). Though I was talked into trying a Starbucks Frappuccino during "Frappy Hour" and the barista suggested I add a shot of espresso. Well, it was good...too good. I don't even wanna know the calories, sugar content, or ingredients - because I know it ain't good (OK, I'll stop using bad grammar). I also discovered that homegirl here can't handle the caffeine, because I couldn't fall asleep that night (some six hours later), tossing and turning for what seemed like ever. I even asked Bob if I talked in my sleep because I remember telling someone who walked into our bedroom that I can't drink Frappuccinos anymore because I can't fall asleep. So even when I finally fell asleep, I was dreaming about how I couldn't fall asleep.

I digress...what I wanted to share was Dave's Coffee Syrup, which I've been seeing on blogs and in magazines. Sounds amazing on ice cream..someone even suggested adding it to barbecue sauce.

new york: the butcher's daughter

Since moving to Saint Louis eight months ago, I have been telling Bob that there really isn't a juice bar that I love. When I heard about The Butcher's Daughter in the NoLIta neighborhood of New York City, I immediately emailed him and said this is the type of place I would open here. It's a juice bar and vegan café in a space reminiscent of a classic butcher shop (ironic, yes). Of course I've added this place to my must-see list when we visit New York next. Now I'm reminiscing about when I lived nearby in SoHo and would walk in this (then) new, up-and-coming neighborhood. Can't wait to see it.
